This site is dedicated to the memory of Darlene McKenzie.

Mom passed away peacefully on August 5, 2011. She endured a long 7 year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) with help from many caring and thoughtful people. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and dogs. She loved her job as a florist at Hazen and Jaeger, where she fit in like family. She is survived by her children Richard (Jeanie) Padula, Mike (Natalie) Padula, Debbie (Tony) Alvord, Lisa (Robert) Cornejo, 9 grandchildren, and her sister Helene (Chuck) Pizzolato. To all who have given your time, love, and support to Mom, we say "THANK YOU". Memorial contributions can be made to our local ALS support group, ALSSO PO Box 48177 Spokane, WA 99208

Thoughts

Just wanted to put something here that wasn't sad so here is a little info on Mom. Back in 2001 Mom gave me what she called a "project" and that was to find out if her birth time was daylight saving time or wartime. After some interesting research on daylight saving time and standard time, I discovered that Mom was born in daylight saving time during wartime. Miss you everyday Mom!!! Love Deb

I had the privilege of working with Darlene at Hazen & Jaeger. She was one of my favorite people for she was beautiful inside and out. I admired her talent as a florist and and will miss her big smile. Rest in Peace Darlene from one dog lover to another. Pam Farrage

I met Darlene at work when I started working as a secretary in 2000. I had the privilege of working with Darlene occassionally in the flower shop. She was fun to be around, always had a smile on her face, and was a friend to all. Darlene had and will always have a special place in my heart. That first year during the ALS Walk I walked with her and have been walking every year since, and have been a huge advocate in honor of Darlene. Sadly, this year I will be walking in Memory of Darlene. Darlene is gone from our lives, but will never leave our hearts. As this memorial says, she was much loved. I love you Darlene and you will be truly missed. My deepest condolences to the family, Clara Curtis and family
